Our Mission

The Donzil Hall Scholarship Endowment Fund exists to honor the enduring legacy of Donzil Hall — teacher, coach, veteran, mentor — by providing financial support to Graham student-athletes pursuing secondary (college or trade) education. Through this fund, we carry forward Hall's ethos of discipline, community, service, and opportunity.

About Donzil Hall

Early Life

Hall grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Spencer High School in 1950, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to education, athletics, and service.

Military Service

After high school, Hall served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. His military experience shaped the discipline and leadership he would later bring to coaching.

College Athletics

Hall attended Marshall University where he competed at the varsity level in both baseball and football. He particularly excelled in baseball, earning first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors in both 1957 and 1958 with a career batting average of .336.

His athletic achievements led to his induction into Marshall's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Career at Graham

After college, Hall moved to Ohio and began working at Rosewood High School, which later consolidated into Graham Local Schools around 1960. He then served 33 years as teacher, athletic director, and coach for both baseball and football, retiring in 1991.

In 1973, Hall coached Graham's baseball team to a state championship, cementing his legacy as one of the program's greatest coaches.
